MFL Hub work is well underway in our area, with some exciting work carried out by SLEs from Bucks schools. Five Bucks secondary schools are involved in this two-year DfE pilot. The Hub, based at lead school Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, is one of nine hubs nationally, working with the national Centre of Excellence for Language Pedagogy (NCELP). Training events for the hub schools have focused this term on deliberate practice in Phonics and Grammar teaching, with support and opportunities to observe across the hub schools. Participating teachers been able to use and evaluate resources learnt in the CPD workshops. The focus of workshops after half term will be Vocabulary learning.
Within the pilot of the Hub, activity is focused on the five participating schools. In addition, Hub SLEs are looking forward to presenting resources, best practice, and sharing experience at the MFL Hub Open Day on 9 July, where the focus will be on the building blocks of excellent MFL teaching and learning (phonics, grammar, vocabulary, meaningful practice). Great quality FREE CPD for secondary MFL teachers! Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, Marlow 9 July 2019. 9am-3pm.
